We offer a School Garden Program, Empowering Small Farmers, and Organic Agriculture Training

Sustainability Starts in the Soil.

At FOATZ, we are committed to fostering healthier communities and a more balanced environment through sustainable farming practices. Our mission is to promote organic agriculture through innovative programs that educate and empower individuals, from young students to small-scale farmers, ensuring a brighter future for all.

FOA Vision

Our Mission

To engage and involve all stakeholders in organic agriculture, facilitate the exchange of scientific knowledge of organic food and farming systems and help practitioners disseminate, apply and implement innovation and scientific expertise consistent with the principles of organic agriculture.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where organic agriculture provides nutritious food while preserving the natural environment. Organic Agriculture is widely adopted and seen as organic food on every table in Tanzania. Through education and training, we aim to create a sustainable agricultural system that benefits people and the environment.

Background

FOATZ provides knowledge and services to small farmers, especially marginalized farmers, who need knowledge of ecological organic farming techniques, market skills for natural/organic products, and sustainable livelihoods. The Foundation for Organic Agriculture Tanzania (FOATZ) is a non-profit organization.

Around 77% of Tanzania’s population is involved in agriculture. Climate change raises concerns about how best to utilize natural resources to sustain and increase crop and livestock production.

Meet Our Team

Most small-scale farmers use poor agroecological practices that degrade the environment.
These are:

  • cultivating small size of farmland,
  • cutting all trees,
  • poor applied simple tools in preparing the land,
  • practicing mono-cropping
  • poor farming practices within the hills,
  • overgrazing and bushfires.
  • Applying synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides
